WHAT WE DO
Empowering Conversations in Philosophy & Mental Health
At Thinkful we investigate the role of philosophy in enhancing our current understandings of mental health. Drawing on philosophy's rich intellectual legacy, as well as its unique mode of approach, we suggest new ways of accounting for human distress or difficulty.
ALL THESE AND MORE
Questions We Seek to Answer

-
How can we make sense of some of the more painful aspects of being a human being?
-
How do we develop meaningful ways of thinking and talking – those that affirm our human encounters with sadness, suffering, and with loss?
-
How can these understandings help us to move on with our experiences of distress, as we acknowledge lived experience as something difficult and complex?

About Us
Thinkful aims to investigate the role of philosophy in enhancing our current understandings of mental health. It seeks to move beyond the given discourses of pathology and disorder to suggest new ways of accounting for distress or difficulty. At the heart of this interdisciplinary initiative is our conviction that philosophical thinking involves imaginative transformation. Philosophical thinking changes the conversation in interesting ways.
